Terms and Conditions of Cushy Adventures
1. Eligibility & Health
1.1. Participants must be at least 8 years old for day hikes unless stated otherwise.
1.2. All participants must be in reasonably good health. Those with medical conditions or recent
surgeries are advised to consult a medical professional before joining.
1.3. Cushy Adventures reserves the right to decline or terminate participation where health or
safety risks are observed.
2. Booking & Payment
2.1. Bookings are only confirmed upon full payment.
2.2. All hikes must be booked at least 72 hours in advance to allow for proper logistics
planning.
2.3. Payments may be made via M-Pesa (Paybill: 400200 | Account No: 47770) or bank transfer.
3. Cancellation & Refund Policy
3.1. Cancellations made 72 hours or more before the hike qualify for a full refund or transfer
to a future hike.
3.2. Cancellations made between 48–72 hours before the hike qualify for a 50% refund.
3.3. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the hike are non-refundable.
3.4. No-shows attract a 100% cancellation fee.
3.5. Hikes cancelled by Cushy Adventures due to extreme weather or unavoidable circumstances are
fully refundable or transferable.
4. Safety & Conduct
4.1. All participants must follow the guide’s instructions at all times during the hike.
4.2. Cushy Adventures maintains a guide-to-hiker ratio of 1:7 for day hikes. For Mt. Kenya and
Mt. Kilimanjaro, a 1:1 guide ratio applies on summit day.
4.3. Any participant engaging in reckless behavior, intoxication, or conduct that endangers
themselves or others may be excluded from the hike without refund.
5. Transport & Pick-Up
5.1. Transport is provided from Nairobi CBD, International House, unless stated otherwise.
5.2. Timeliness is critical. Late arrivals may miss departure, and no refunds will be
issued.
5.3. Cushy Adventures uses licensed private tour vehicles only and does not utilize PSV
vehicles.
6. Insurance
6.1. Participants are strongly advised to obtain outdoor adventure insurance, especially for
high-altitude treks such as Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro.
6.2. Cushy Adventures has partnered with Rescue Connect to provide insurance options for
trekkers upon request.
7. Gear & Equipment
7.1. Day hikers are responsible for carrying appropriate clothing and personal items, including
snacks, water, hats, and rain protection.
7.2. Hiking gear is not rented; however, participants may purchase gear at a discounted rate
(10–15%) from the Cushy Outdoor Shop.
7.3. For multi-day hikes, a recommended gear checklist will be shared in advance.
8. Photography & Media
8.1. By participating in Cushy Adventures hikes, you consent to photography and videography that
may be used for promotional purposes on our website and social media platforms.
8.2. Participants who prefer not to appear in any media must notify the team in advance.
9. Weather & Trail Changes
9.1. Hikes operate rain or shine; however, routes may be altered or hikes postponed due to
safety concerns such as landslides, heavy rainfall, or official advisories.
9.2. Any changes will be communicated to participants in advance where possible.
10. Acknowledgement of Risk
10.1. Hiking involves inherent risks, including injury, exposure to weather, and challenging
terrain.
10.2. By registering for a hike, you acknowledge these risks and agree not to hold Cushy
Adventures liable for any loss, damage, injury, or delay arising from participation.
